The Marble Mosaic Co Ltd in Weston-Super-Mare

The Marble Mosaic Co Ltd completed its move from Bristol in 1982, having earlier purchased the old Royal Potteries building from another family member’s business, Ansar Mosaic, and some adjacent land upon which we built and equipped a new factory specific for the production of high-quality precast concrete units. The large travelling gantry crane, recently re-painted yellow, has now been a feature on Weston’s skyline for almost 40 years. Our offices are in the same building that Royal Potteries used as offices, and still include some ornate terracotta window surrounds as features.
The precast concrete units we produce vary in their shapes and sizes, colour and textures, finishes and facings to satisfy the specific requirements of individual building projects. Linking back to Royal Potteries manufacture of bricks and other clay products in the 19th and early 20th century, the wide range of Marble Mosaic’s work co-incidentally includes brick-faced and terracotta-faced precast concrete panels, albeit with the brick and tile facings being supplied to us from factories in Europe.
Rivalling the Royal Potteries workforce in the late 1800’s, The Marble Mosaic Co Ltd currently employs 75 people. Of these, over 90% live with their families in Weston-super-Mare. We also enjoy long-term working relationships with other businesses in the town. I suspect our continuing use of the Royal Potteries site makes it one of the oldest industrial properties still in operation in Weston-super-Mare.
